CONDITIONS A-Z
Insomnia
Insomnia itself is not a sleep disorder, but a symptom cause by other problems
including both physical and psychological.
What is Insomnia?
People with insomnia have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Insomnia symptoms include extreme fatigue, lack of energy, inability to concentrate, mood swings and decreased overall normal functioning.
Acute insomnia can be due to stressful life events, while chronic insomnia occurs at least 3 nights a week for 3 months.
Insomnia is caused by underlying conditions, and these can be both physical and psychological. Many patients with Insomnia also suffer from anxiety and or depression which can lead back to hormone imbalances and vitamin deficiencies.
At the Garden City Center for Integrative Health we focus on finding the cause of your Insomnia to help you get back to normal functioning.
